The Parish Council welcomes the support from MPs Calum Miller (Calum Miller for Bicester and Woodstock) and Greg Smith (Mid Buckinghamshire) regarding the government’s proposal to use the land at Arncott opposite the prison as a large-scale accommodation facility for asylum seekers awaiting a decision on their migration status.
As Mr Miller states, asylum seekers should not be accommodated in a semi-derelict MOD storage site with no connection to suitable amenities and public services.
Villagers who have concerns may complete a petition (available at https://www.oxonld.uk/mod-bicester) which Mr Miller will use to demonstrate the strength of feeling in the area to government ministers.
