Ambrosden Allotments

Ambrosden Parish Council are using guidance from NALC (National Association of Local Councils) and the National Allotment Society: www.nsalg.org.uk

Introduction to Ambrosden Allotments

Bloor Homes built the Springfields estate in Ambrosden, and in a Section 106 legal agreement dated 2014, agreed to give Ambrosden Parish Council a plot of community land (please see map here) and also purpose-built allotments.

A Section 106 legal agreement is an agreement between the developer and the parish/district/county council to provide facilities to the community to mitigate the effect of the development. This means that the allotments are for the benefit of Ambrosden residents.

Ambrosden Parish Council own the allotments and manages them. This is not a responsibility that can be delegated as the Parish Council are the legal owners and insurance holders.

There is currently a waiting list. Residents from Ambrosden will be given priority, then the waiting list will be used to allocate allotments to those from Arncott, which is the only neighbouring parish without allotments. Bicester Town Council has five sites, Blackthorn, Piddington, Merton and Graven Hill have their own sites, so it is unlikely that residents from those areas would be offered an allotment, unless no one from Ambrosden or Arncott wished to use one.

Please see the latest Allotment Tenants’ Handbook for further information.

Please contact the clerk by email at clerk@ambrosdenpc.org.uk for more information.
